Senior Environmental Engineer  

Reporting to the Vice President - Integration, Commissioning and Start-up and later to the Manager Health, Safety Environment and Regulatory (HSER)   the Senior Environmental Engineer is responsible for overseeing the Environmental and Regulatory performance of the company activities. Interface required with the Vice President Regulatory Affairs to understand project and corporate commitments made by the company, and then develop, implement, and monitor strategies, policies and programs that meet these commitments and promote sustainable development.
The Senior Environmental Engineer will have a broad scope including close out Regulatory issues from the Licensing process, leading environmental and regulatory audits and assessments, and identifying and resolving opportunities for improvement. An important element of the role is to ensure that the company's staff and contractors are educated on all aspects of environmental and regulatory issues for the project and later for full time operation.


  • Familiarity with  Environmental and Regulatory regulations and requirements within an operating hydrocarbon-processing facility in Alberta

  • Familiarity with Provincial and Federal regulations and guidelines related to Environment and Regulatory

  • Ability to develop, or aid in the development of environmental and regulatory reporting systems, such as required  for Environment Canada NPRI emissions reporting

  • Understanding of risks and requirements related to the commissioning, startup and operation of hydrocarbon processing equipment

  • Demonstrated relationship building with representatives of provincial, municipal, and federal representatives of  Environmental and Regulatory authorities (as applicable)

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

  • Demonstrated ability to interface with public stakeholders related  to operational concerns related to a hydrocarbon processing facility

  • Strong understanding and commitment to Environmental Stewardship;

  • Must be willing to make decisions, in line with the project philosophy, execution plans and Operations;

  • 15+ years of total experience in Process Engineering and/or Operations with proven  specialization  in Environment and Regulatory

  • Must be able to  initially work in Calgary ( ultimate location/plant site: Sturgeon County ) Travel intermittently back  and forth to  Calgary
