Project Engineer - Electrical Heat Tracing  

PROJECT ENGINEER - ELECTRICAL HEAT TRACING
Reporting to a Central Management Team Project Manager – Voyageur Project, the Electrical Heat Tracing and Cathodic Protection Lead will be responsible for providing cross-project coordination and oversight of the delivery of a significant horizontal scope of work with the Voyageur Upgrader Project. The EHT scope includes the site-wide electrical heat tracing design, integration for the EHT control systems and overall coordination of the procurement and materials management for the Voyageur process areas.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
· Delivers projects that support Suncor’s Journey to Zero and Process Safety Management objectives through safety in design and project execution
· Owner’s representative managing the Electrical Heat Tracing and Cathodic Protection scopes of work
· Responsible for overall supervision for the EHT design and procurement activities and overall coordination
for each process area to ensure cost, schedule and quality requirements are met
· Ensure Suncor’s standards and reliability needs are met by working closely with site and head-office technical specialists
· Engineering and Construction contract management including contracting strategy and scope development
· Manage and report on project cost, scope and schedule metrics
· Implement value improving practices and support continuous process improvementREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Electrical Heat Tracing and Cathodic Protection systems design and implementation requirements in a large plant environment
· Engineering degree or technical diploma with a minimum of 5-years experience in a project engineering or project management role in the oil and gas industry
· Excellent relationship-building, facilitation and communication skills
· Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGGA
· Demonstrated commitment to safety
· Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams, engineering and construction contractors
· Effective leadership skills; demonstrated ability to make important decisions
· Superior change management skills including the ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders to accept proposed changes
· Ability to manage multiple relationships and activities simultaneously while maintaining focus and priorities
